When looking for information on the 30 second smile it can be useful to see how it compares against other electric toothbrushes to determine if it is the right one for you. In this post I have it go up against the Oral-B Professional Care Smart Series 5000 Rechargeable Toothbrush and the Philips Sonicare HX6972/10 FlexCare Plus Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush – two very well-known brushes and highly rated.

In the comparison table below I have summarized the result of my research around the web. I looked at what people have said, a university study and looked at the brushes user guides to come up with a fair comparison.

How Did They Go?

The big overall difference is the recommended time to brush. The Oral B and Sonicare brushes both recommend a minimum of 2 minutes with only 30 seconds needed for the 30 second brush. A university of Tennessee study indicates that all three brushes when used as recommended by their respective manufacturers are effective in reducing gum disease, improving freshness of breath and in removing staining, thereby making teeth look whiter.

The 30 second smile uses the recommended and tried and tested bass method of tooth brushing to clean the teeth, with the Oral B and Sonicare using more technological based methods to get a similar result.

Price

When looking at price it is obvious that the 30 second smile is much cheaper but it doesn’t include rechargeable batteries and recharging unit. A recharging unit and batteries costs around $15. The other difference in price is the cost of the rechargeable heads when bought through the official site the replacement heads can be supplied for life at the cost of shipping for the 30 second toothbrush, whereas the other two brushes the replacement set is $19 or more.

The only real disappointment I came across is the customer service for 30 Second Smile with a few customers not liking the fact they have to deal with India in the first instance when discussing an issue, which can cause some frustration.

The 30 second smile can be bought online or by phone only. The other 2 electric brushes are widely available online and offline.

In Conclusion

Hopefully you have found this 30 second smile vs Sonicare vs Oral B review useful and now have a better understanding of how they stack up against each other. F our investigations the 30 second smile is an electric toothbrush that gets the job done quicker and as effectively as 2 of the most highly rated and popular brushes.

Maintaining consistent and regular good oral hygiene is the key to healthy teeth and gums. A clean mouth not only promotes good health, it also helps you feel more confident about yourself. Eating is also easier with a complete set of strong and healthy teeth.

Visiting the dentist on a regular basis helps you to have a clean and healthy mouth, but it does not hurt to learn the basic oral hygiene techniques to maintain it while you are at home. Learning and practicing good oral hygiene also reduces the number of visits to the dentists, which saves you a few dollars for check-ups and some hundred to a few thousand dollars for tooth/teeth extraction, teeth whitening, dental implants, and other fix-ups.
Here are some tips for better oral hygiene:

Back to the Basic: Brush Your Teeth

There is nothing more important than regular tooth-brushing. Everyone learns this during their toddler years. Brushing your teeth twice a day is the minimum requirement. However, not all people know how to brush their teeth properly. As a reminder for old timers and an intro to the beginners, here is right way to brush your teeth:
1. Hold your toothbrush at a 45 degree angle against your gumline. Gently roll or sweep the toothbrush away from your gumline, starting from your left upper molars and work your way clockwise. Repeat this for 20 seconds on both sides.
2. Brush the inside, outside, and chewing surfaces of each tooth using back and forth strokes.
3. Brush your tongue gently to get rid of bacteria to promote fresh breath.
4. Brush your teeth for at least two minutes when using a regular toothbrush.

Floss

Flossing is just as important as brushing your teeth. It removes plaque between the teeth that your toothbrush can’t reach. Once a day flossing is enough, as recommended by most dentists.

Use at least 18 inches of floss, leaving one to two inches of extra floss to hold both ends. Following the curves of your teeth, gently floss using a zigzag motion. Do not just snap the floss between your teeth. Slide the floss up and down the surface of the teeth.

Further Oral Hygiene Tips

Regular brushing and flossing of the teeth is not enough to promote good oral hygiene. Follow these next tips to ensure that you keep your teeth clean and healthy.

Brush your teeth after breakfast to remove bits of food stuck between your teeth. This will also remove plaque that accumulated during the night.

Do not brush your teeth more than three times a day. While tooth brushing is necessary to clean your mouth and teeth, too much brushing can be harmful to your gums. If you need to brush more than three times, use a gentle and soft-bristled toothbrush for light brushing.

Change your toothbrush every three months. Most toothbrushes have indicator bristles. Once the color of the bristles fades halfway to white, get a new toothbrush and replace your old one.

Use toothpaste that contains fluoride. This will help prevent cavities while stopping small cavities from eating your teeth away. Fluoride is also proven to reverse early signs of tooth decay.

Whitening toothpaste can help whiten your teeth, but it may only remove surface stains. Choose whitening toothpaste that contains fluoride and calcium. You can also use whitening toothpaste if you tend to accumulate tartar quickly, or if you drink tea, coffee, or chocolate frequently. If you want whiter teeth, talk to your dentist and discuss teeth whitening options.

Use mouthwash and rinses. Mouthwash can freshen up your breath and kills bacteria inside your mouth. There are also mouthwashes designed to soften and eliminates plaque. Choose an oral mouthwash that contains fluoride and antibacterial properties.

Limit intake of sweet and sugar-rich foods and snacks. Cakes, candies, and other sweets contain sugars or starches that serve as food for the bacteria inside the mouth. Too much sugar may break the protective surface of your teeth and lead to cavities. You can prevent this by avoiding or limiting your intake of these foods. Brushing your teeth after eating, or chewing a sugarless gum afterwards can also prevent the build-up of plaque and protect your teeth from repeated acid attacks.

Quit smoking cigarettes or tobaccos, as these contribute to teeth staining and bad breath. Smoking also increases the risk of getting gingivitis, periodontitis, and oral cancer.

Commit to regular oral checkups, especially if you are wearing braces, and have fix-ups like dental crowns, bridges, or implants. This will prevent future complications and allow you to maintain good oral hygiene.

Contemporary lifestyles are often governed by erratic eating habits, unhealthy choices of foods and a shortage of time. Oral health is suffering as a result and an increasing number of kids and adults are being diagnosed with cavities. Time to take stock of the situation and befriend our pearly whites.

What are cavities?

Cavities are synonymous to tooth decay. Excess intake of starch and sugar rich foods like bread, pasta, potato, pretzels, rice, cakes and candy creates a friendly environment for bacteria to develop and digest these foods. As a result acids are produced which combine with food debris and saliva to form ‘plaque’. Plaque resides on our teeth and begins to dissolve their protective enamel surface causing formation of spaces, we generally refer to as cavities.
Cavities may be ‘Coronal’ or ‘Root cavities’. Coronal cavities commonly occur in kids, found mainly on the chewing surfaces of the teeth or between them. Root cavities may be linked to aging for the aging process causes our gums to recede exposing the roots which are embedded in the upper or lower jaw. The exposed part thus becomes susceptible to decay and cavities happen.

What can cavities do?

Cavities can be quite a nuisance. One may experience toothache and sensitivity towards hot or cold foods. Sometimes pus may also be found around a tooth and empty spaces or pits are noticeable in a particular tooth or teeth in general. This condition doesn’t only hamper normal life but also can be rather embarrassing.

How to prevent cavities?

There was a time when cavities were generally associated with kids; however, currently, adults too are at a high risk. It is therefore important to prevent cavities from occurring and following certain oral health principles:
* Remember to brush your teeth at least twice a day to deter the accumulation of plaque. This seems to be right out of a book of ‘Good Habits’ for kids but essentially forms the base for oral hygiene.
* Flossing is just as important as it helps to clean the space between teeth and keep the bacterial troublemakers at bay.
* Dental products with fluoride as an ingredient are good for the teeth. Fluoride toothpastes serve to strengthen teeth and keep them healthy.
* Regular visits to your dentist means regular checkups for your teeth, ensuring their health. This also prevents minor oral problems from becoming major health hazards by catching them at the right time. During the visit it pays to check for fluoride supplements with the dentist. Awareness about dental health and products that promote it will always prove beneficial in the long run.
* One can also go in for dental sealants after consulting one’s dentist. Dental sealants are protective plastic coatings applied on the surfaces of permanent back teeth. They keep the grooves on the chewing surfaces of teeth free of germs and left-over food particles, thus controlling tooth decay.
* It is also useful to include mouth rinses in one’s regular dental regimen. Mouth rinses are believed to enhance oral health due to their antiseptic and anti-plaque properties. This may serve as an effective way to prevent cavities.
* Drinking fluoridated water also helps to foster oral health. Fluoride is a substance which plays a major role in fighting tooth decay or it is believed, even reversing it.
* Altering our daily diet to a well-balanced meal with a limited amount of sugar and starch goes a long way in maintaining the health of our teeth and gums. Such a diet retards the growth of plaque and increases the life of teeth keeping them in perfect working condition.
* For those who chew on sugarless gum, here’s some good news. There is evidence which suggests that sugarless gum may help to keep our teeth healthy and prevent tooth decay by increasing the flow of saliva.

They say that we make our habits and then habits make us. Prevention of cavities is, to a large extent, up to us. We all realize that a dentist with all his instruments can make for a scary figure. In order to befriend the dentist, we need to understand and accept certain lifestyle changes. We need to face up to the fact that our teeth need us as much as we need them. Cavities need to be filled, even before they decide to strike! Here’s to all our smiles.

Given a right environment, microbes simply grow and multiply; this is especially true in dental care and oral hygiene. The following healthy teeth tips are simple, yet important methods that help to avoid cavity formation, prevent contraction of gum diseases, and ensure good oral hygiene practices.

Brush, floss and cleanse- The first and foremost healthy teeth tip is quite simple—Keep your teeth, gums and tongue clean. Even if you brush twice a day, you should floss at least once as dental floss reaches the grooves and gaps where bristles of the tooth brush do not. Also, bring in to practice daily tongue scraping; it not only removes the microbes, but also freshens the breath.

Use the right tooth brush, paste and mouth wash- Using the right tooth brush, and a new one every 2 or 3 months, are essential healthy teeth tips because hard bristles cause havoc on weak gums. Likewise, find a fluoride containing paste that helps in topical fluoride application, thereby resulting in stronger enamels. Remember to follow up brushing and flossing with a dental rinse—use a mouth wash with fluoride to strengthen the enamel, prevent tooth decay and decrease hypersensitivity in dentin layers, if any.

Brush the right way- Learn the right brushing techniques to enjoy healthy teeth. Use the tooth brush at 45 degrees angle, move in circular motion and reach underneath the gum line to remove any stuck food and prevent germ build-up. Also, practice gentle brushing that stimulates the gums, and take extra care to avoid scrubbing and bleeding them.

Eat healthy stuff- Healthy eating habits, which includes proper vitamin and mineral intake, have been the most effective for healthy teeth. Diet plays an important role in dental care; eating a balanced diet and following healthy snacking habits can go a long way. After eating solids, you can consume water as a temporary cleaning measure. If possible, do try to brush or at least rinse the mouth after every meal to remove any food particles from the mouth.

Keep away from sugar- Eating processed and sugary foods can be an easy means to lose healthy teeth. Sweet tasting foods attach to the teeth and serve as bacterial food. The microbes use this sugar to grow and multiply. If you are in the habit of chewing gums, instead of using the regular sweet gums, use the after-meal chewable gums that specifically facilitate teeth cleaning. This practical healthy teeth tip is quite easy to follow.

Avoid the banned drinks!- Soft drinks like soda and colas, and alcohol are a definite no to healthy teeth. While acids in soft drinks erode the enamel and weaken the teeth, alcohol affects gums and oral tissues, thereby increasing the risk for gum diseases and tooth decay.

Lose your addictions- If you are have an unhealthy habit or are addicted, it would take a toll on your teeth. One important tip is to lose your addictions, such as smoking cigarettes or chewing tobacco. In addition to cancer, tobacco causes bad breath, bone loss, tooth discoloration, shrinking gums and mouth sores. If you are in habit of drinking many a cups of coffee or black tea, follow it up with a dental rinse; in addition to keeping your teeth healthy, it makes your pearly whites whiter.

Keep the plaque at bay- Plaque formation, a coating of bacteria over the teeth, must be removed for healthy teeth. Plaque causes not only tooth cavities, but also gingivitis or swollen gums. Regular brushing, flossing and rinsing will eliminate the bacterial colony that attaches itself to the enamel layer to form plaque and resistant tartar.

Visit your dentist- Dentists are experts in oral health; visit your dentist for periodic checkup as periodontal or gum diseases can become life threatening when left untreated. Also, you could benefit from professional advice on periodontal anti-infective therapy. Always consult the dentist when you find signs of gum bleeding or have stress- related teeth grinding habit. Your dentist will suggest an appropriate tooth paste or a teeth guard to combat the problem. It makes sense to opt for a less-costly normal dental check-up, rather than wait for the problem to worsen and go for an expensive dental treatment. Make time for your teeth-

Giving your teeth the much-deserved time and care is a sure-shot for healthy teeth. Never procrastinate in your duties towards proper and regular dental care; this attitude is the basis of sound oral hygiene that is necessary not only for healthy teeth, but also for a healthier body.

The truth is that you cannot afford to ignore good tooth brushing techniques. They are very vital to your health and well being perhaps more than you realize.

Oral hygiene is very critical in our lives and if you do not take care of it, sooner or later it will catch up with you and the consequences are bound to be very unpleasant. It should not surprise anybody that some folks have gotten into trouble not because they are not diligent where their oral hygiene is concerned but simply because of using the wrong techniques to brush their teeth.

That is why tooth brushing techniques and tips should be of great interest to anybody.

One of the most common problems in our hurried daily busy lives is that people do not spend enough time brushing their teeth. How much time is considered enough? Not less than two minutes at a time and it is also highly recommended that you brush your teeth twice a day. The vast majority of people tend to do it once a day which is not enough.

And we are not talking about the usual vigorous strokes. Instead you need to go for short and delicate strokes. The type of toothbrush you choose is very important. Look for one with very soft bristles. It should actually be so soft that you will have no difficulties brushing your gums. Many people do not realize it but brushing the gums is just as vital as brushing your teeth.

Use the same gentle short strokes that you started with on your teeth on your gums too. If you find that you are experiencing any discomfort or even a little bleeding then the bristles of your brush are too hard and not soft enough.

There are various teeth brushing movements when cleaning your teeth which you must learn to ensure that you get the best possible results from your daily cleaning.

For instance there is the roll technique where you use short strokes from the base of the tooth upwards. This must be combined with proper cleaning of the gums otherwise you will end up in a situation where the gum margin is neglected and accumulates a lot of harmful residue from the food you eat.

Then there is the charter’s method for cleaning which is said to be complex and difficult to learn let alone master. The way to do it properly is to place the tooth brush next to the gums and teeth. You then need to make circular vibrating movements.

The bass method is by far the most popular tooth brushing technique used. You start off with your toothbrush on the front surface of your back teeth at an angle of 45 degrees. The toothbrush is then moved in back and forth motions while being careful to cover the whole area especially where the tooth ends and the gums begin.

The next thing you will need to do is to place your toothbrush on the top surface of the teeth (the part that does all the chewing) and move the toothbrush back and forward. This process should cover the top surface of all your teeth including the front teeth which do not have much of a surface.

Another common mistake many people make when brushing teeth is not to pay enough attention to the tongue. The truth is that the tongue is capable of hiding plenty of harmful bacteria and regular cleaning is extremely important. You will need to rinse your toothbrush after use on your teeth and gums and then place it on your tongue. You can then gently brush your tongue in circular motions ensuring that you cover each and every inch of the surface of your tongue.

It will also be useful to discuss the ways in which you should NOT brush your teeth. Failure to clean all areas of your teeth which happens when people are always in a hurry and not serious about good teeth brushing has many harmful consequences including affecting the gums. What happens is that the gums recede. This in turn causes undue sensitivity of the teeth to things that are either cold or hot.

Yet another way not to brush your teeth is by failing to keep the tooth brush flat against the teeth which means that the whole tooth is not cleaned properly. This also damages toothbrushes very quickly.

For better results you need to avoid making these common mistakes in tooth brushing techniques and brush your teeth properly.

Taking care of your teeth, forms a healthy part of personal grooming. Who doesn’t want a set of shining pearly whites? It is possible to achieve this, only if you are willing to take proper care of your teeth.

There’s a lot more involved in caring for teeth than simple brushing. Here are some basic rules or guidelines that should help you in protecting and caring for your teeth.

Brushing

It is important that you brush your teeth at least twice a day. Most dentists will stress on the fact that you need to brush your teeth after every meal. However, this may not be realistic for some, so instead brushing in the morning and night will still suffice. You should brush your teeth for a minimum of two minutes in each session. It is also important that make sure you brush all sides of your teeth, and your tongue. If you get the chance to, it would be an added advantage to brush your teeth for a few seconds during the day. It will help in reducing the amount of plaque that forms throughout the day. Unfortunately, toothbrushes alone cannot clean teeth thoroughly, as there are some areas the bristles cannot reach. This is where dental floss comes in handy. Flossing should also be done twice a day.

One tip in caring for your teeth is to first brush your teeth without any toothpaste. Contrary to what most people believe, it is not necessarily toothpaste that removes plaque, but it the action of brushing teeth that does. It is actually possible to successfully brush your teeth with just your brush and water.

In an effort to brush your teeth, do not ignore your gums. They are half important as your teeth. A lot of dental related diseases are associated with the gums. As the toothpaste dissolves and forms foam in your mouth, you can use a bit of it to gently swipe at your gums. Use floss whenever you eat a meal that sticks between your teeth. Resist the urge to use toothpicks, as they can easily harm you.

Bad Breath?

Have you often been the victim of smelly breath? Have you tried all you can think of to get rid of it? You may be surprised to know that the secret lay in your tongue. You can easily purchase tongue scraper, or buy a toothbrush that doubled up as one, and use it to gently scrape off the plaque that forms on your tongue. By doing this you will not only get fresher breath, but you will also be slowing down the plaque formation on your teeth. You can also still use your toothbrush to clean your tongue.

Teeth are said to be very strong but due to daily activities, they do experience wear and tear. That is why fluoride can be found as an active ingredient in most toothpaste. Flouride strengthens the tooth enamel. You can also invest in fluoride mouthwashes. This will help in giving your teeth an extra boost of strength.

Foods

Resist the urge to snack on small meals throughout the day as this will only lead to a buildup of plaque. More so, avoid sugary foods, and choose something healthier for your teeth such as cheese. Cheese is alkaline in nature, and will help in neutralizing the acid in your mouth, which is the cause of dental cavities. Additionally, stay away from sugary foods because they also fuel the bacteria that can be found in your mouth. This in turn leads to the bacteria releasing substances that erode your enamel. Substitute sugary snacks for salads, fresh food and non sugary drinks like water.

It is a healthy practice to visit your dentist twice a year. You can also book an appointment when you have a problem with your teeth. You can also do a little bit of background reading on teeth so that you can ask your dentist to know what exactly what he/she is doing to you. Your dentist will also be able to give you advice on whether or not you are doing a great job of taking care of your own teeth. He may even suggest one or two methods along the way.

In as much as you may want your teeth to gleam each time you flash a smile, always remember that healthy teeth and gums, as opposed to pearly whites, are your priority.

The bass method obrushing is one of the techniques of brushing teeth that is most effective and most widely used. This is a method that Dr. Charles Bass introduced. He is known widely as the “Father of Preventive Dentistry” and also “Father of Dental Hygiene”.

This Bass method is very effective when cleaning areas which lie below or next to the gingival margin. The creation and accumulation of dental caries is most commonly seen in areas that are just below or close to the gum line. They are also widely formed in the areas that are between the teeth which are called the interproximal areas. Bass technique of tooth brushing concentrates on cleaning these areas of the teeth. Furthermore, you will not be required to use any special toothbrush.

Areas cleaned by this method

• The gingival surface which is adjacent to the tooth
• Interdental gingiva
• Cervical 3rd of one’s tooth. This is adjacent to one’s gingival margin. It also includes the proximal surfaces

Indication of the Bass technique

The following are the occurrences where this technique is prescribed:

• For removal of bacterial plaque or germs that are adjacent to the gingival margin and the gums
• For in between the teeth spaces and for a person with gum disease, on the person’s exposed root surfaces
• For people on whom periodontal surgery has been done recently
• For brushing on braces, tooth crows and dental bridges

How it is done

• Place the bristles of the toothbrush at 45 degrees to the front surface of your back teeth. Move your toothbrush in slight circular motions. Ensure that you especially brush the area where your teeth meet the gums.
• Still with this slight circular motion, move forward slowly towards the front teeth. Do not rush but take time to clean all plaque and food debris. If you experience any problems of the brush not fitting in your mouth, put it in a vertical angle and then continue brushing at an angle of 45 degrees on the gum line and front surface.
• Continue moving around the arch. Make sure you cover the back teeth which are on the opposite side.
• These steps should be repeated with the back of your teeth as well. This is the side which is closest to your tongue.
• Place the bristles of the toothbrush on the occlusal surface which is the chewing surface of your teeth.
• Move your toothbrush back and forth in sort of a scrubbing motion. Ensure that the chewing surfaces of all your teeth are brushed, including the front teeth.
• Rinse the toothbrush, place it on your tongue and then run the bristles gently over your tongue. This is because your tongue can also harbor cavity causing germs and bacteria therefore it must also always be cleaned.

More on the bass technique

• This technique is initially quite hard on the gingiva for some days, even a mild brushing force can lead to bleeding for those with gingivitis. Do not use excessive pressure since it may lead to damage of the gingiva. With regular brushing using this technique the burning sensation on the gingiva will gradually decrease.
• It is advisable to choose a soft toothbrush since the soft bristles will dig easily below the gingiva and get to the interproximal areas. Some experts though advise that it does not matter which toothbrush you use.
• Be patient since this method may take some time but it is all worth it.

Benefits of the Bass method of tooth brushing

• It will clean your teeth and gums thoroughly, getting to clean even those hard to reach teeth surfaces
• It will improve your tooth appearance therefore giving you a perfect smile
• It improves the health of your teeth and eliminates risk of dental diseases and other diseases of the teeth and gums
• It removes dental plaque thus enhancing the health of your teeth
• It mostly doesn’t involve special toothbrushes therefore it is a cost effective method. It is an enhanced toothbrushing method which can be done with your current toothbrush
• It also involves cleaning of the tongue thus eliminating any germs on the gums that may cause you diseases

Bottom line

This is a great and effective method of tooth brushing. The bass method brushing can be done by anyone and not just those who can afford certain types of toothbrushes. The Bass method of brushing is a technique that has been proven to work for a long time and can be trusted to be effective.

Having white teeth is very important in today’s society in many ways. It is a sign of beauty and class. Having a great smile can attract people to you, and light up the room! Brushing your teeth is very important, not only to look good but also for health reasons. Below I am going to discuss why it is important to keep your teeth clean and healthy as well as some tips on how to keep those teeth pearly white.

1. More Attractive. Brushing your teeth is very important because it makes you feel better about yourself and will make you look more attractive to the opposite sex. Having white teeth is a universal sign of beauty, no matter what part of the world you are from. It shows that you takes pride in your image, and that you care about yourself a lot more than people who do not brush their teeth on a daily basis. You will soon find that your self esteem and confidence goes way up and that you smile more often.

2. Reduce Plaque. Dentists recommend to brush a minimun of twice a day to help reduce plaque. Plaque comes from the build up of foods and sugars that stick to your teeth, and if you do not remove this by brushing daily, you will soon find that you have cavities and have to visit the dentist. Plaque can cause yellow-brownish and unsightly looking marks on your teeth and is pretty difficult to remove once it is there. Also, it should be noted that flossing and using mouthwash can help to prevent plaque build up as well.

3. No Cavities. A cavity in a nutshell is a tiny little hole that effects one or more teeth, and when left untreated can often lead to much more complicated problems. No one likes cavities, if you have them you will find it costs a ton of money to go to the dentist and have them removed. It is much better to simply prevent cavities in the first place. Brushing not only daily, but after every meal can help to keep the cavities away and your mouth feeling clean and fresh.

4. Reduce Dental Bills. Going to the dentist can end up costing a lot of money, especially if you do not have insurance. If you find that you need a deep cleaning, or that you need to have cavities filled, the costs can quickly add up to a huge amount. This can all be avoided by simply brushing in the morning when you wake up, at night before you go to bed, and basically as often as you can.

5. Teeth Brushing Tips. So how exactly should you brush your teeth? Dentists typically recommend brushing for a minimum of 2 minutes, although it does not hurt to go for 5 or more minutes. The proper technique to brush your teeth should be side to side and up and down until you have brushed very thoroughly. Do not neglect brushing the gums and tongue as well, as germs and bacteria can build up in these places as well. Brush everywhere, not just the front teeth that people can see, try to get the back molars as well.

6. Manual Vs. Electric Toothbrush. There has been a lot of debate about manual vs electric, and if electric toothbrushes actually remove more plaque and are more effective. In recent studies, it has been proven in studies that electric are up to 3 times more effective at removing plaque buildup and whitening your teeth.

7. Toothpaste. When choosing your toothpaste, you should try to get the kind that whitens teeth and also removes plaque. Most toothpaste will get the job done, but always try to get the best bang for your buck. Also another tip is, brushing with baking soda can help to whiten teeth big time!

Brushing your teeth on a regular basis is very important for a variety of reasons, not only for your health but also to stay confident and attractive. Whenever in doubt, always ask a dentist for their advice as they do know best. Follow these 7 guidelines and points and you will be well on your way to a brighter and healthier smile that turns heads every single time!

Good dental hygiene is an important skill to learn and is best started at an early age. Brushing teeth for children is the first basic process they need to learn to obtain good dental hygiene. As adults, brushing our teeth may seem like second nature, but children need help to know how to do it properly. Some keys to teaching your child how to brush their teeth include using the proper toothbrush and toothpaste, encouraging and motivating the child, and using games and activities to make dental hygiene fun.

When purchasing a toothbrush for your child, take them with you so he can choose one he likes. A child will be more likely to brush regularly if he chooses a fun toothbrush. The toothbrush may be in their favorite color or have a favorite movie character on it. Many children also enjoy using electric toothbrushes. Electric brushes work well to clean their teeth and make brushing teeth for kids’ fun. For younger children and toddlers, make sure that the chosen toothbrush is small enough so that it can fit in their mouths properly.

Buy toothpaste made just for kids. Since children may swallow a lot of the toothpaste in the beginning, they need to brush with fluoride free toothpaste. Most children’s toothpastes contain little or no fluoride so they are safe to swallow. In addition to their, kids toothpastes come in a variety of flavors. Allow your child to pick their favorite flavor to make brushing their teeth a little less yucky. Another added benefit of using a children’s toothpaste is that they are often themed with different movie and television characters so your child will have fun choosing toothpaste featuring a fun character.

Here’s a quick how to teach your child to brush video. It has a few additional ideas!

To help encourage brushing teeth for children, make a teeth brushing chart. Using poster board and a permanent marker, draw a chart that maps out the days of the week, a.m. and p.m. Display the poster in the bathroom and allow your child to choose some fun stickers. Every time he brushes their teeth, he gets to put a sticker on the chart for that day, morning and night. For an added incentive, offer motivational prizes after the whole week has been filled with stickers. The prizes don’t even have to cost any money. Maybe you’ll allow them to stay up past their bedtime or have a sleepover with friends.

It’s not only important to get your children to brush their teeth regularly, it’s also essential to teach them the proper way to brush their teeth. If children are not brushing their teeth correctly, they may be more prone to cavities and decay. Teach your child to brush in a circular motion along all surfaces of the teeth, especially near the gum line. You may demonstrate on yourself and coach your child along as he brushes to make sure he’s brushing correctly.

Make brushing teeth for kids’ fun with games and activities. For younger children and toddlers, help them brush the teeth of a favorite doll. As the child brushes the doll’s teeth, explain the importance of brushing our own teeth and keeping them clean.

Children, as well as adults, should brush their teeth for 2 minutes straight each time. This may seem like a long time to most children and it might be hard for them to gauge that time. To teach them the proper timing and to make brushing teeth a little more fun, keep an egg timer in the bathroom. When it’s time for your child to brush their teeth, help them turn the timer to two minutes. Tell them to keep brushing until the timer dings. Encourage them along the way if he gets bored or tired by telling them how much time he has left.

Regardless of your child’s age, personality, or amount of teeth, it’s important to teach proper dental hygiene. By starting early, letting the child choose the products he uses, and encouraging them with fun games and motivational rewards, you’re sure to give them all the tools he needs to practice good oral hygiene. These skills, when learned at a young age, benefit a child’s health throughout their life and give them a bright and healthy smile.
